Jamorama Book 2, Lessons 5, 6 & 7
Lesson 5 of Jamorama Book 2 is a relatively short one, and introduces major 6th chords, as well as more about major scales. There’s a long exercise to practice chord changes.
Lesson 6 introduced another important technique – the barre chord, beginning with the F major root 6 chord, followed by other chords that can be formed from this movable shape. Barre chords can be tricky to master, as it can be hard to hold all of the strings down properly, but they do get much easier with practice.
Lesson 7 discusses percussive strum techniques, and there are various exercises to practice these, using both single chords and progressions. This chapter also discusses the importance of slow practice – something that lots of people (myself included sometimes) overlook in their haste to make progress and play impressive sounding fast stuff quickly.
