Guitar Training Directory – Section 1: General Guitar Lessons
This is an A-Z list of general guitar lesson courses, which are mostly aimed at beginners (though some cater to intermediate and advanced players too). Only guitar courses are listed here; many sites offer free lessons, but only cover isolated topics, such as a particular chords, songs etc.
Learning by piecing together bits of knowledge from various sources is an inefficient way to go about things. Instead, it’s best to follow a systematic course of instruction that covers all of the fundamentals in a logical, structured way, with each lesson building on what you’ve already learned – and unfortunately most of the free lesson sites don’t provide that kind of progression (there are some exceptions, which I’ve included here). The free sites still have value though – there’s some great stuff out there which can complement what you learn from a professionally put together course, and I’ll compile a guide to these sites soon – but they’re not listed here.
If you’re overwhelmed by the choice available, or just want to save some time, I recommend checking out Jamorama, which I have tried, and have found to be a great resource for anyone wanting to learn to play guitar to an intermediate level.
