Waldo De Los Rios – Serie De Oro: Grandes Exitos
|
The Argentine composer, arranger and conductor Waldo de los Rios (1934 – 1977) was best known for his pop-styled arrangements of well known European classical works. During the 70s he found great success with his interpretations of such famous works as Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, and his recordings remain popular today.
Serie De Oro: Grandes Exitos is a ‘greatest hits’ release that came out in 2003 on the EMI Europe Generic label, and it contains tracks from his 1971 album Sinfonias, among others. The complete track listing is as follows:
1. Novena Sinfonia en Re Menor ‘Coral’: 4to. Movimiento “Oda a la Alegría”
2. Octava Sinfonia en Si Menor
3. Sinfonia N40 en Sol Menor K 550: 1er. Movimiento
4. Tercera Sinfonia en Fa Mayor: 3er. Movimiento
5. Sinfonia N9 Opus 95 ‘Nuevo Mundo’: 4to. Movimiento – 2do. Movimiento 6. Sinfonia de los Juguetes en Do Mayor: 2do. Movimiento

Serie De Oro: Grandes Exitos is unlikely to appeal to classical music purists, but others who enjoy both the classics and lighter instrumental styles are likely to enjoy this recording.
